Oriental Tropical Soundsystem - GoEast Film Festival 2012 - Video
PUBLISHED:  Jul 10, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Janeck Altshuler arrived in Germany in 2001 as a Jewish emigrant from
southeast Ukraine, a time when dancing to Eastern European rhythms was
not a fully established trend. But the crowd in Germany was receptive
to Altshuler's new sound from "the other side of the Iron Curtain".
Janeck's uptempo beats have inspired devoted clubgoers of his "La
Bolschevita" nights at clubs like Schlachthof-Wiesbaden, Germany, as
well as in Lithuania, Poland, Ukraine, Russia and Slovakia for years
with wild dance parties. Mix of Balkan tuba bass and Klezmer melodies
from Ukraine with latin music, gypsy- or electro-swing is the most
inspired way to energize the dance floor.Clinton Heneke from Cape Town
is coming with Janeck not only to support his dj-set with live
percussion. Clinton would like to see the homeland of his Grandfather,
who lived Lithuania for South Africa at the beginning of the 20th
century. In Cape Town Clinton was really busy with making recordings
as session-musican with the stars of south african club-scene. In
Germany he is playing mostly jazz and world music, especially gypsy
swing as member of Absinto Orchestra. Since while Clinton and Janeck
experimenting with creating a perfect mixture of gypsy, jewish,
oriental music and cumbia, afro-cuban or african sound.
