African reggae rootsman, Kulcha Far I, a.k.a. Christopher Hakata, was born and raised in Harare, Zimbabwe. It is in 1980 , the year Zimbabwe got her indepenednce, that Kulcha delved onto the reggae scene. Perfomances in Zimbabwe by Bob Marley and The Wailers, Misty in Roots, Asward, UB40, among others, solidified his reggae foundation.



Listening to the roots sounds of reggae lengendary icons like Bob Marley, Peter Tosh and Burning Spear, influenced not only Kulcha, but scores upon scores of youths who had not been exposed to this crucial music before Zimbabwe's independence.



Known for his spirited and inspired vocals, Kulcha Far I has over the years put together some inspiring musical works of art.



In the year 2000, Kulcha Far I released to critical acclaim the long-awaited debut CD, "Africa Is My Roots", which featured epic songs like "The Bush Must Burn," "Survice", "Tower of Babylon," "Zion Destination," and the title track.



The Reggae beat, the world's premier Reggae, African, Caribbean and World Music magazine reviewed Africa Is My Roots, dubbing the CD message music for the new millennium. (The Beat, Vol. 19, No. 6, 2000).

Kulcha's sophomore CD, "African Rasta" picks up from where Africa is My Roots left off. Its roots music all the way!

In 2004, Kulcha worked recorded his sophomore album , "African Rasta", showcasing serious-time music and lyrics.



Breaking News: Kulcha has once again teamed up again with his long-time California producer on the new album "Man on Mission" due out soon.
