Kollage-Magic Fingers (Subwoofer) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 22, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This is an AWESOME deep house tune from 1997. It opens with some very nice warm pads and then we are greeted with what I can say is one of the most menacing kick drum patterns I have ever heard. I don't know what Kollage used for a drum machine for this tune but the drums and kick in this song are unbelievable- very clean and crisp yet really pound right through the mix while still leaving plenty of space for the strings, pads, and bassline (which actually hits far higher on the EQ scale than the kick itself so the don't compete against eachother). Kollage only released two 12's on Subwoofer (one of my favorite deep house labels from the 1990s), but all six tracks across the two singles are awesome. Definitely quality over quantity in this case, and by the way try playing this at 45 rpm, it almost sounds like a cross between an intelligent and breakbeat hardcore tune! Almost.
