Weissenborn "Ragnar" (Knut Hem Tribute) - Video
PUBLISHED:  Feb 11, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
This piece is of music was not written by myself, I rearranged it (and played it to the best of my limited capabilities) because next to the original composition this is a mere shadow of its true beauty.

The original melodies and refrains were written by the Norwegian artist Knut "Ragnar" Hem. The piece of music in question was called "Langvatnet" (which I believe means beautiful sunset in Norwegian). Knut has never officially released this tune to date but I believe there are plans for it to be included on his third studio album. There is a Youtube video of Knut playing a finished version @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=KSuwIBVj8nw&list=PLxM_ciSEoBD52NTANZifHSmrLU3HFRRY5&feature=share&index=2

However I have studied at length an earlier version of this tune from another YouTube video @ www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjd-oLtOYNc&feature=share&list=PLxM_ciSEoBD52NTANZifHSmrLU3HFRRY5&index=1

Knut told me this was a early working version of "Langvatnet" and the main melody is very similar. This version struck a chord (no pun intended) with me and I was hooked on watching Knut play it and i would watch it over and over many times. So as I watched I began to pick it up then i started to tab it and take notes, and this arrangement is my interpretation of that one off performance.

Knut has graciously given me his blessing and permission to release this arrangement and I'm thrilled he likes it because in my opinion he is one of the greatest exponents of the weissenborn alive today and I thank him for giving us such beautiful music.

Be sure to check out knut Hem's two studio albums available on iTunes for some of the best weissenborn and resonator playing you'll likely to hear.
