Im going to get straight to the point. FAME and CELEBRITY are the CRACK of this generation. Everyone wants to be famous and some people are even famous, just for being famous. We are far from camera shy and thanks to social media anyone is just one click away from their One Million Views.

Why are we so desperate and thirsty for attention? Why do we have to be seen and known? Why does a dude jump off of a roof and break his neck for a few laughs? Why do young women degrade themselves on camera? Why does a kid send out a YouTube video moments before committing suicide? Why does a guy shoot up a movie theatre on the premier night of the biggest movie of the year? Why do you get upset when someone else gets praiseand attention instead of you?

These questions ran through my mind this year just as they may have run through many of yours , as I watched news and current events. Brothers and sisters we have a serious problem. We are so consumed with what people think of us, that we will do anything for their attention. We crave the applause, the compliments and the envy. We have to have people think much of us. Many of us desire fans more than we do true intimate friendships.

There is a healthy sense of wanting to be known though. As a matter of fact, you and I were created to be known. It is a very real and human need to accepted and loved, but where do you find that love and acceptance? Ultimately we were created for a love relationship with our creator God. Whether we know it or not we all deeply desire our Creator's approval and acceptance. Nothing else will satisfy you. Nothing else will break the chains of insecurity like knowing that your Father in heaven accepts you and loves you. There are not enough followers on twitter and facebook likes out there to fill the God sized hole in your heart.

I beg with you as I have had to beg with myself. STOP LIVING TO PLEASE PEOPLE! People's approval and acceptance of you are unpredictable and unstable anyway. One minute you can be a hero and the next minute you can be the disgrace of the world (Ask Tiger Woods, Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears and many others who have been on this yo-yo of human approval). Live for a real love and approval. Enjoy success and people liking you, but don't be desperate for it. Don't need it. Jesus loves you so much, that He died for you, inspite of your hate for him. He loves you and no amount of fame can top that.

You can keep drinking that mud water and stay thirsty if you want to; but as for me I'm drinking from the fountain of lving water.
