About Kiddycar
After the band’s first official debut, the EP Small Things produced by Minuta Records (Switzerland), and the presentation of the videos of the songs “Your Desert” and “Girogirotondo” (special guest Andrea Chimenti), 2007 saw the release of the band’s first album Forget About (Seahorse Recordings/Goodfellas), which earned an enthusiastic reception from the critics and led to Kiddycar’s immediate appearance on the list "We Bet On" on MTV’s Home Page, where they remained for the extraordinary length of two weeks.
In October of the same year, Kiddycar collaborated with Paul Messere of the Blessed Child Opera on the song "You Save Me From Understanding More", which was recorded on the compilation Silber Sound of Halloween released by Silber Records, USA.
In November 2007 Forget About was released under licence in Japan by Xtal Records, Tokyo. Meanwhile, the videoclips of "Human Logic" and "Dit de l'amour" reached the finals of the P.I.V.I. (Italian Independent Videoclip Prize) in Milan. Italy’s Rai Radio 1 put Kiddycar on its rotating playlist, and, in December the group was the guest of Village (Rai Radio 1) in a live performance and interview.
On 13 December, as part of Performing Media Lab (multimedia arts festival directed by Carlo Infante) at the Teatro di S. Giovanni Valdarno, Kiddycar presented the video of the song "Human Logic" (already a finalist for the P.I.V.I. prize), produced by Almasen Artists Associates (Fernando Maraghini and Maria Erica Pacileo http://www.almasen.it/index_it.htm), and filmed in Berlin in September 2007 with the support of the Berlin State Gallery.
On 24 December the LP How This Word Resounds (vinyl 33 rpm in a limited edition of 500 hand-numbered copies), composed jointly by Kiddycar and the artist Christian Rainer, was released by Fridge Records and distributed by Goodfellas (digital distribution Seahorse Recordings).
From January 2008 Forget About was also distributed in French speaking Switzerland by Phenix Records. In the same month Kiddycar with Christian Rainer were listed on MTV’s Home Page, and the LP How This Word Resounds was available as exclusive listening on the portal for a week.
In addition, the video of “Dit de l'amour” (opening track on the LP) was transmitted by All-Music.
In February 2008 Rai Radio 1 “Radiounomusica” presented Kiddycar on the online player of the site Eurosonic.net, as being among the artists it considered the best of its selection of Italian music. Eurosonic is an organisation that forms part of the EBU, the Union of European Public Radios, to which Radio1 belongs.
On 7 March 2008, Kiddycar were invited by the RAI to hold a live concert in the historic Hall A at the RAI headquarters in Via Asiago, Rome, as part of a Friday evening concert series, an occasion that included the new addition of a string trio (two violins and a cello) to the band’s live-set.
In April 2008 Kiddycar were invited by the Italian Cultural Institute in Bucharest to hold a concert in the Romanian capital.
Meanwhile the video of “Your Desert” was put on the rotating playlist on All Music, and shortly afterwards so were all the other four videos, with “Dit de l'amour” being expressly requested by MTV.
The video of “Human Logic” was shown on Rai 2 live TV during the 3 May 2008 episode of Scalo 76, and was one of the three video clips out of four thousand entrants to reach the finals. The same video clip was once again presented and broadcast live on Rai 2 television during the last episode of Scalo 76 on 31 May 2008.
As guests in a live transmission of LA3 TV, Kiddycar again presented the videos "Human Logic" and “Dit de l'amour”.
A new version of “Human Logic" became the soundtrack of the video produced by Atlantis Audiovisivi and directed by Mario Alves Rebehy, for the writer Paulo Coelho’s project for his book, The Witch of Portobello. The author invited video-makers from all over the world to create videos inspired by the chapters of his book so that a mosaic style feature film could be made.
The video was chosen from among thousands of others, and as well as reaching the finals, it was broadcast by CNN International on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 August 2008, as part of the programme Spirit of Storytelling, during an interview with the Brazilian writer who was presenting his project. In addition, the singer/actress Valentina Cidda, the voice of Kiddycar, was chosen to interpret the role of Athena, the Witch of Portobello.
Also, “Girogirotondo” (a bonus track on Forget About featuring Andrea Chimenti) was used for Davide Barletti’s documentary Diario di Uno Scuro (www.cinemaitaliano.info/diariodiunoscuro).
Kiddycar recently signed a remix for the Czech band Miou Miou (www.myspace.com/mioumiou) for the song "Sublime" on the remix album Électronique / MiouMixes / released in the Czech Republic in December 2008 and in Japan in January 2009.
Also participating in the project along with Kiddycar were B. Fleischmann, Montag, aus, Lullatone, FilFla, Sawako, Moskitoo, Balún and others.
In 2009 Kiddycar signed a contract with RAI Trade for the issue of the band’s new album Sunlit Silence due out in September.
BBC Bristol (UK) contacted Kiddycar and on April 4 transmitted the song “Trust” as part of the programme Introducing, in which the band was described as being one of the new European groups worth following closely.
