DESCRIPTION:
Khaossia’s Magellan follows the ensemble’s traditional interest in exploration, discovery, knowledge and cross-contamination of the known and the familiar with the new and the different.
The play combines music, videoart and literature to portray the history of the explorer’s  famous journey. The focus is not on the main character but on the emotional elements of the journey itself, portrayed in its everyday aspects. Magellan is not seen as hero but as a man who, with child-like innocence and through his experience of new worlds, questions the certainties of a European man of the sixteenth century that are his own.
Khaossia’s play is freely inspired by Antonio Pigafetta’s “An Account of the First Journey around the World”. Music, script and video are original.
