Country music is a part of who Kentucky-raised singer-songwriter Kelsey Waldon is, though her musical tastes reach well beyond those borders on her new release, I’ve Got A Way, produced by Michael Rinne. From country classics like Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn, to bluegrass greats like Ralph Stanley and Ricky Skaggs, Waldon incorporates different styles into her writing and performing. For Waldon, studying the legends, learning, and growing into her own are key ingredients to making music. “Lay it all out, and sing it from the heart, way down deep,” she says. Waldon, one of Rolling Stone Country's inaugural Artists You Need to Know, kicks off a summer tour in Brooklyn this July.

Kelsey Waldon visited The Attic Lounge at War Memorial Auditorium to play a few songs from her upcoming album, I've Got A Way, and talk about her musical inspirations.
