ΑΝΟΙΧΤΟ ΣΕΜΙΝΑΡΙΟ 10 - 15 Απριλίου, 2014

Σε αντίθεση με τη συντριπτική πλειοψηφία των μουσικών που παίζουν αυτό το όργανο, η Κέλυ ξεκίνησε να παίζει μουσική και να διαμορφώνει τον ήχο, την τεχνική και την αισθητική της κατευθείαν πάνω σε αυτό το τύπο της λύρας. Η ίδια, καθώς δεν περιορίζεται αποκλειστικά στο Κρητικό ρεπερτόριο, έχει αναπτύξει τεχνικές και τρόπους παιξίματος που ταιριάζουν σε ένα μουσικό υλικό που έχειδημιουργηθεί ειδικά για το όργανο αυτό. Το ρεπερτόριό του συμπεριλαμβάνει τόσο κομμάτια από την Κρητική και από άλλες διαχρονικές παραδόσεις, καθώς και μια πληθώρα νέων συνθέσεων που έχουν διαμορφωθεί ειδικά για αυτόν τον τύπο της λύρας.

Στο σεμινάριο αυτό η Κέλυ Θωμά θα μοιραστεί με τους μουσικούς που ενδιαφέρονται να παίξουν ή ήδη παίζουν το όργανο αυτό, τις γνώσεις που έχει αποκτήσει ως τώρα από το Ross Daly, αλλά και από άλλους μουσικούς που έχουν επηρεάσει τον ήχο της. Θα αναλύσει, τεχνική, ρεπερτόριο καθώς και τρόπους ανάπτυξης αρμονίας για 2 ή περισσότερες λύρες, στοιχείο το οποίο δουλεύει μαζί με το Ross την τελευταία δεκαετία. Ανάλογα με το επίπεδο του τμήματος θα επικεντρωθεί και σε ασκήσεις τόσο για τη χρήση του δοξαριού όσο και για την ενδυνάμωση και την ακρίβεια διαστημάτων στο αριστερό χέρι.

Αν και το σεμινάριο απευθύνεται σε μαθητές που θα έρθουν με λύρα με συμπαθητικές χορδές, ευπρόσδεκτοι ως μαθητές είναι άλλοι μουσικοί που παίζουν τοξωτά όργανα και ενδιαφέρονται για την τεχνική και το ιδιαίτερο ρεπερτόριο του οργάνου αυτού.

Unlike the majority of other players of this instrument, Kelly began playing music and cultivating her highly individual sound, technique and aesthetic straight away on this type of lyra. Because she doesn't confine herself to the Cretan repertoire, she has developed special playing techniques as well as a unique style which are suited to the diverse musical material which has been created especially for this instrument. This repertoire is comprised of certain specially arranged pieces from the Cretan repertoire as well as that of other long standing traditions, as well as a body of compositions which, in recent years, has been created especially for this type of lyra.

In this seminar, Kelly Thoma will share with her students the knowledge which she has acquired over the years from Ross Daly as well as from other master musicians of various different traditions who have significantly influenced her musical world. She will analyze techniques, repertoire, as well as certain ways of working delicately and carefully with certain aspects of harmony which facilitate the playing of two or more such lyras together. This is something which she has been working on with Ross for the last 10 years. Depending on the level of the students in the seminar, she will devote more or less time to exercises for the right hand bowing technique as well as to strengthening the left hand fingering for the sake of greater accuracy with regards to the intervals.

Despite the fact that this seminar is primarily directed at students of the Lyra with Sympathetic strings, students of other related bowed instruments who are interested in the techniques and rather special repertoire of this instrument will also be welcome to participate.
