Peter Criss Validates Vinny Gonzales Collection - Video
PUBLISHED:  Apr 03, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
Music Authenticators (Mainly PSA/DNA and Roger Epperson)have denied the existence of a massive autograph collection that came from and continues to come from Vinny Gonzales.

It is well known in the KISS circles that "Fat" Vinny (as the band members refer to him as) has a special relationship with all the past and present members of KISS. He is a pretty quiet and secretive person but has had the privilege of amassing the largest KISS Collection in the world.

His collection ranges across the entire spectrum of KISS memorabilia from stage used costumes to thousands of autographed items to promotional items to personal items such as watches/jewelry from the band members to stage props and so on. You name it, he has had or still has in his possession.

It is also well known that Vinny sold off a large portion of his collection in the mid 80's and early 90's (in fact, I have heard he still sells items today). Won't go into to details on why he sold off a large portion of his collection but it involved a girl that he wanted to help out.

He sold off much of his collection for pennies on the dollar back in the day (keep in mind KISS was on a downward spiral and not super popular anymore as they had no make-up and lost Ace and Peter. They were struggling as a hair band in the days when grunge was dominating the airways.

Much of what he sold was disseminated to a few select persons in the Market place mainly in NY/NJ. Much of the Merchandise ended up in the hands of Al Munson and Garry Danko who Owned the Rainbow Rock (also know as Rainbow Rockatorium) in Brick NJ. I have spoke to Garry and he confirmed over 75% of the KISS Merchandise in the store came from Vinny. At a later time he and Al would get together with a promoter and start the KISS Conventions. Much of the Vinny Gonzales collection would end up at these Conventions and sold for very cheap. It was a smorgasbord of KISS Merchandise everywhere. The KISS fans that were lucky enough to attend were treated to the best stuff to ever hit the market at very reasonable prices.

That is where Jeff Danzig comes into play. He purchased pallets full of KISS items over this period as he was a HUGE KISS and Alice Cooper fan. He knew KISS was just down on their luck and the stuff would be worth quite a bit someday. So that is exactly what he did. He purchased every item that he could afford. Much of what he has he has been selling off over the past 7 years to fund a music project. His collection is almost gone. Don't know how many persons still have large portions of the Vinny collection stashed but it will be more difficult to come across this awesome collection in time.

So if Steven Grad (PSA/DNA), Roger Epperson (Epperson Real and JSA), Michael Hoppe (World of Autographs and GA) or any other Music authenticator tries to tell you that there is no Vinny Gonzales collection, they are dead wrong (like they usually are).

Thanks and good luck in your autograph collecting! Pat
