Intense, sincere and emotive punk rock with occasional screaming vocals is what the band will say when asked to describe their latest record, This Hole We Call Our Heart.

"We just get together and write songs we want ourselves to hear. I guess we throw in a lot of our own individual influences in writing. Thats why its hard to classify us as like just punk rock. Its easy to hear indie and hardcore parts in our songs." says Ray, Vocals

Formed in Dec of 99, Kate Of Kale has become one of the mainstays of the local music scene after playing numerous major shows including 3 Bay Beats festival at The Esplanade in 2002, 2005 and in 2007. Built on friendship, hard work and passion for making music, the band has two full length Albums, 2 Malaysian tours and numerous compilation releases under their belt. Juggling work, school and national service, the band stepped into Snakeweed Acoustic Labs and recorded their latest full-length effort, This Hole We Call Our Heart.

Its a lot different from the first record and they've started playing a whole lot of shows with the release of the new CD. Its really exciting for the KoK boys to unveil their new material cos theyre so different from the old songs

The new record This Hole We Call Our Heart is now in stores, released by homegrown up and coming punk/hardcore label, Fixation Records. First Stance Records of Malaysia has also recently picked up the bands CD for distribution in Malaysia and put the guys on tour with Utarid (KLs most exciting screamo band).

With the release of the single "On That Day" reviews have been pouring in:

"On that Day"-

Initial Impressions - Liked the lead guitar work, LOVED the bass tone, I'm sick of hearing crappy sounding bass in punk songs, this kicks. The drums are tight, maybe the kick could be a bit louder/more defined.

The singer has a ton of energy and at first I thought "Crap he's going to be a stupid screamer who can't sing" but he pulled me in. There were a few rought parts in the vocal, but it's punk and all in all it's a tradeoff for the energy that the vocalist had (sweet). This is a quality punk song, keep it up.

Dave (TSP Band, USA).

.i am impressed by the quality. I am listening to "Death Like Lemons". I am definitly feeling the intensity right from the start, and from the sound of it i think you guys would be a great live band to rock out to. The pit would definitly be stirred up. Some criticisms, work on the vocals a bit, the singing was ok, probably could be a little more inventive with the melodies, but the screams are rocking. Overall you guys sound tight and solid as a band. Good Luck.

I like this particular form of punk (something like later From Autumn to Ashes or maybe Glassjaw). Personally Id like to hear a little more screaming. but well thats just me Im not sure punk vocals are supposed to be possible to understand, so I dont really think you need to work on clarity. The songs flowed quite well, and I didnt mind the emo feel that normally drives me away from lighter punk because you balanced it with enough screaming to project the kind of energy this sort of music is supposed to have.

Dross (USA)

The boys are in the midst of recording their 3rd full length so keep coming back for updates.
