Bruno Wandelt : Romanze - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 10, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
Phillip Sear plays a romance - somewhat in the style of Schumann - from 1899 by the German composer Bruno Wandelt (1856-1933).

I don't know much about the German composer Bruno Wandelt (1856-1933) except that he was born in Breslau, and studied in Berlin and Kiel. In 1899 he founded (I think) a private music school in Dessau, and was certainly director of it in 1918. He is best-remembered for some sets of educational piano pieces, and also wrote some songs and worked as an arranger (eg, a 4-hand arrangement of Rubinstein's famous 'Valse-Caprice'). Although this piece starts rather generically, it has an attractive faster middle section, and a wistful ending.
