Since this Caprice is designed to be played freely like a cadenza/recitative, I highly suggest listening to different recordings of Karg-Elert's Sonata Appassionata in F# minor for flute solo. Even better, get a copy of the part & follow along, noting where notes are more in time & then free. There are MANY recordings of that solo on YouTube. This should give you plenty of ideas as far as pacing, tempo, & phrasing. No two performances should sound exactly alike!
