Hi everyone! I decided to do something a little different today. I'm by no means a pianist, but here's a cover/mashup of two of my favorite songs from the Suikoden game series. The piano is live, and all the orchestration was done in Logic after the piano was recorded. The tempo is a little off towards the end cus I need a little more practice :P

Anyway, here comes a long little essay about what these games mean to me :P

Suikoden II was the first RPG that I ever played in my entire life (and I'm glad it was). The music was so well done (major props to Miki Higashino, wherever this wonderful lady is) and fit the storyline so well. I think the game resonated with me because the storyline goes beyond a lot of the more common and trivial themes you usually see in JRPGs. It's actually quite a sad game and I would recommend first timers to play the game without a walkthrough and NOT collect all 108 stars of destiny to see a more realistic version of how war divides even the best of friends.

"Reminiscence" (from Suikoden II) and "The Light Moaning In The Darkness" (from Suikoden V) are in my opinion the most emotive tracks from the series. They sound quite alike as well, since I think the makers of Suikoden V tried to mimic some of the better aspects of Suikoden II.

Well anyways, these songs/games mean a lot to me so hope you enjoy :P Leave a comment if you have played any games from this series and which game/songs you think are the best!
