JUDY BAILEY
Judy Bailey sings. At 8 in her church choir in Barbados, at 17 her first own songs while teaching herself guitar, at 21 on her first album recorded in London. She sings her songs with joy, spirit and a passionate hope. She sings in refugee camps and prisons, in old churches and new clubs, at gatherings and festivals in Hong Kong and in the Congo, in Brazil, South Africa, Australia and often in Germany, where she now lives.
Judy is a world musician and citizen. Her musical journey has led her through eight of her own albums, collaborations with musicians from Eddy Grant to the Söhne Mannheims, into the charts, to her largest performances before hundreds of thousands, and on every continent. In spite of all of this, her music has not become a mass-product, but remains what it has always been. Moving. Personal. Judy sings songs that make you think: "She wrote that just for me." And if you'd asked her, she'd surely say: "It's yours."
