2210 - Tijmen Riedé ft Joshua Du Chene - Video
PUBLISHED:  Dec 10, 2015
DESCRIPTION:
I met Dutch musician Tijmen Riedé during a trip to the Netherlands a few years ago. He wrote an electronic interlude called "Reflections" for an album I produced in 2012 with my band, mötæ (download both our albums FREE at http://motaemusic.com).

Tijmen sent me "2210" while I was living in China in 2012, and I liked it so much that I wrote and recorded vocals for it the night he sent it to me. Here's the final product.

LYRICS:

Did you see it coming all along?
You knew the rest of the world was longing for something more than you could ever give.
Yet you still let it live a lie.

Why am I afraid of all this big talk?
Why can't I imagine what comes next?
Why were you the only one I trusted?

(There have been reports of resistance and violence in various parts of the greater district... our advice is to gather up your loved ones... and go!)

You wanted this to be sure - that the world was vulnerable.
You want all this to be yours, because your world is vulnerable.
Your world's so vulnerable.
And you just can't take it.

Now - guns held out - you've taken all you've ever wanted without a single thought of repercussions.
Hold your hands up to the sky as you propagate your lies.
Act it out, say it right. With script in hand, use all your might.

But I'm no longer here to take the blame -- you should have planned before you rained your glorious declarations of forever building nations of us, when all that we ever wanted to be was free... free... free...

Now we must bid you farewell, for we must all go.
Your fantasies are manifested so unexpectedly.

You wanted this to be yours, because your world was vulnerable.
Your world's so vulnerable.
And you just can't take it.
