The Verse Of John Merrick (The Elephant Man) A personal tribute. - Video
PUBLISHED:  Oct 27, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
This is a song inspired by the poem used by Joseph Merrick (often referred to as John Merrick) to close his autobiography. It's an adapted verse from 'False Greatness' by Isaac Watts.

This song was composed and recorded in my bedroom using Cubase. I was inspired to write it after being moved by the great film 'The Elephant Man' directed by David Lynch.

"Tis true my form is something odd,
But blaming me is blaming God.
Could I create myself anew,
I would not fail in pleasing you.
If I could reach from pole to pole,
Or grasp the ocean with a span,
I would be measured by the soul,
The mind's the standard of the man."
