Johann Michael, aka Jo Rasp, is a unique blend of rhythm and blues, urban soul, alternative rock and an influence of reggae sound. His background of music started at an early age in his hometown, Montreal, Quebec, Canada.



A passionate performer, Johann has traveled the world and played high - demanding roles, including the show - stopping pimp, " The Engineer " in the Tony Award winning musical, “Miss Saigon.” As Johann left the theater he entered into the music industry and started off with Canadian R&B group, “KUYA“, along with “Bobby Brass, Sammy Blues, and Jayson Ray.” “KUYA” is known for their first single and music video, “Southern Girl”, which was released internationally as well as MTV 2 and MTV Asia. Johann’s involvement also includes the SOCAN Urban Music Award winning music production company, KUYA Productions. KUYA Productions has embarked upon their own journey producing for recording artists: Shawn Desman, Keshia Chante, and over the years have amassed dozens of tracks for artists: Nelly, G - Unit, AZ, Gary Beals, and Ginuwine. Along with new artists such as Nicole Scherzinger (from Pussycat Dolls) and Jesse McCartney.



After living in New York and Toronto, Johann relocated and is now based in the bay area of San Francisco, California. Johann has collaborated with producer and longtime friend, Vie Aknaton and created duo, “Willard and Katt”, under Indie Label, Vie Recordings. Willard and Katt produced and wrote original, diverse songs such as, “Mary“, “Psycho Love“, “Smilin’ People“, and upcoming single, “Like Saturday“, which made it’s video launch in summer of 2007. Johann has made his mark by sharing his talents in the bay area at venues such as Club 6, Pier 23, Poleng Lounge, Etiquette Lounge and being a featured artist at the after party for “Jagged Edge” at Kimball’s Carnival in Oakland. He also made his solo debut at Canadian venues at Tonic, The Buddah Club and the famous Jello Bar.
