From 1975-1976, Jo-el had 3 singles on the Mercury label chart, albeit in the lower reaches, this being the second one to do so, making it to a lowly #99 in 1976. It wouldn't be until late in 1987 when he would hit the top 40 with "Come On Joe", and then following that up with 2 top 10 hits. So, success was a while in coming.
