Billy Gibbons (1949-) is a blues/rock guitarist/actor/hot rod car collector/chef from Houston, Tx. He lead the Houston psychedelic blues/rock group The Moving Sidewalks in the 1960's. The Moving Sidewalks had a #50 hit in Houston with a cover of The Beatles' "I Want To Hold Your Hand".In 1969 he formed ZZ Top along with drummer Dan Mitchell, and organist Lanier Grieg. The group recorded one 45 RPM single for Scat Records. Mitchell and Grieg soon left and were replaced by bassist Dusty Hill and drummer Frank Beard from the Dallas band American Blues. They recorded their debut album for Warner Brothers in 1971, and are still recording and performing today.
