JOANNA SHIMKUS was born in Halifax (Canada) from Lituanian parents October 30 1943. She moved to France where she became during the second half of the sixties a model and actress, also involved in a little singing. She became famous through the Robert Enrico film "Les Aventuriers", with Alain Delon and Lino Ventura, which got out in French cinemas April 12 1967 and in February 1969 in the USA. In that film, JOANNA SHIMKUS incarnates physicaly and socialy the prototype of free modern women still valuable nowadays.



JOANNA SHIMKUS played also in Tante Zita (1967) and Ho! (1968) with Jean-Paul Belmondo. The music of these three Robert Enrico films was composed by François de Roubaix. It is Joanna we hear singing in French. The young lady appeared in some other films on to 1971. In 1976, she married the american actor Sidney Poitier and they got two daugthers. JOANNA SHIMKUS is now a decorator.
