Filmed in the Colorado sunshine, "Construction Man" is the first video by the Hickman-Dalton Gang, an alt-country music project based in Denver. Johnny Hickman is best known for being the co-founder and lead guitarist of the alt-rock band Cracker, whose hits "Low" (http://tinyurl.com/crackerlow) "Teen Angst, and "Eurotrash Girl" are still alt-rock radio staples. HDG partner Jim Dalton is the lead guitarist for Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers (RCPM), and the lead singer of Denver's popular "hard country" band The Railbenders.

Formed in 2007, the HDG is a long-term side project for Hickman and Dalton, who fit the project in between tours with Cracker and RCPM, respectively.

Featured in this 2011 video are: Johnny Hickman (vocals and guitar), Jim Dalton (vocals and guitar), Jeremy Lawton (also of Big Head Todd and the Monsters) on bass (Lawton also produced and engineered Volume II), Tony Asnicar on guitar, Chris Helvey on drums, and guest Jimmy Stelling (former Hackensaw Boys member) on banjo.

According to Hickman's blog, before music made him a living, he worked in the construction and painting trades. "Construction Man" recalls the kind of guy who could "do it all, from framing to roofing to curb-and-gutter." The resulting video captures the flip side of the blue-collar work week, the simple pleasures promised by the weekend: Friends, cold beer, live music, fun.
