DISKO DRUNKARDS MAKE YOUR BODY TALK

From the depths of the infamous Glimmers basement HQ rises an infectious groove, a rumbling clatter of analogue beats, synth stabs and bellowing bass. At the heart of this, six shady figurines. They call themselves the Disko Drunkards.
Four seasoned musicians sweating out red-hot funk licks, razor sharp breaks and gibberish scatting. Conducting this noisy barrage: Mo & Benoelie AKA The Glimmers; feeding their lifelong affection for schizoid disco and off kilter club music into these henchmen as if they were a battery of walking, talking samplers the duos mammoth record collection a source of sonic inspiration.

Disko Drunkards were conceived during late night jam sessions kick-started in 2005 with a steaming take on Jesus Loves The Acid, a long time Glimmers fave from Ecstasy Club. Their sleazy rendition of Olivia Newton Johns legwarmer classic Lets Get Physical (commissioned by Swedish clothing company WeSC), although not released commercially, became a staple on national radio playlists. More impromptu, on-the-spot recorded jams followed, the rough sketches later edited by The Glimmers into full bodied tracks.

The aftermath of these intense showdowns is a 12-track, self-titled, self-released, -composed, -performed and -produced album. Distributed not through your regular music outlets (on- nor offline) but exclusively AND freely by The Glimmers on their nightly missions and/or wherever Disko Drunkards take the stage and perform their intoxicating boogie. Imagine the minimal but explosive raw power of The White Stripes crossbred with the percussive, dub-infested urban jungle funk from Liquid Liquid and the psychedelic freakishness of Funkadelic or The Revolution. Disko Drunkards are a live testament to the legacy of Nile Rodgers Good Times and The Purple Ones Lets Go Crazy - high powered in delivery, loose on the limbs.
