Hot Cotton levittshellarchive video #34 Memphis Music Memories - Video
PUBLISHED:  Sep 02, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
Hot Cotton, a band from Memphis well known to lovers of traditional jazz, performs Livery Stable Blues, an early standard first recorded by the Original Dixieland Jass Band in 1917. This 1989 performance was videotaped by Phil Sisk, who volunteered to document many events at the Overton Park Shell in the late 1980s.
The historic Memphis amphitheater was fully renovated in 2008 thanks to a generous grant from the Mortimer Levitt Foundation and the renamed Levitt Shell now sponsors 50 free concerts every year devoted to developing community through the performing arts.
