DESCRIPTION:
This reflective tune is from the Recreation show of RFK 6/24/95, the last show of Phil's 30 year retrospective. Stu is playing Steve Cripe's Tribute guitar AKA Saturn - the guitar that was being built for Jerry when he passed and was to be Jerry's next guitar in the lineage of Lightning Bolt and Top Hat. It was completed by Cripe as a "tribute" to Garcia, and sadly, Cripe was killed in 1996. See more on the Cripe Guitars website. The guitar reached the stage with Phil as Cripe intended, albeit 22 years later. Phil, Stu, Grahame, Scott, Danny, Alex and Ezra were so focused for this show, which Phil, understandably, called "bittersweet." There were tears throughout and gratitude for what was, joy for what is and what is still to come from these amazing players. Thanks to all of the musicians for this experience and for another amazing TXR experience. Thanks to Jay Blakesberg for all the thoughtful interviews throughout the recreations.
