Essentially, what you need to know to understand the video is that the orange cat - let's call her Layla - really likes her purple tabby friend (Jenny, according to the song), but she can't ever find the right time to tell her, as she always seems to be dating some guy, and Layla doesn't want to spoil her friend's happiness. Eventually (at the end of the video), Jenny breaks up with a boyfriend and is single, leaving Layla to work up the nerve to kiss her. There's your story.
