Jeffrey Lewis Band Life is Strange 2nd Annual Tuli Kupferberg Memorial - Video
PUBLISHED:  Aug 10, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
"Life is Strange" is a haunting but little known Tuli Kupferberg composition that closed the first side of the Fugs' second Reprise album from 1968 "It Crawled into My Hand, Honest." The opening lines were chosen by Tuli's family to be graven on his tombstone at Greenwood Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York. It's been written that the quote derives from the suicidal protagonist of Goethe's " The Sorrows of Young Werther." This recording is incomplete because my mini dv tape ran out .To see the complete version go here :

The Jeffrey Lewis Band features Jeff on vocals and guitar, Steve Espinola on piano and vocals, Jolie Holland on violin and vocals, and Anders Griffen on drums and vocal. This was third in the set of ten rare Tuli songs for Tuli's Second Annual Memorial at Sidewalk, Lower East Side of Manhattan, July 18, 2012. Video: Thelma Blitz
Life is strange and death is easy
Diamond's heart is full of mystery
When will I know
where the swallows go?

I loved once but now I'm lonely
Loves rejoice
for lovers only
When will I know
where the sparrows go?

Skies are green
and fields are silver

All day hearts,
they quill and shiver

When will I know where the white doves go?

I was young but now I'm ugly
Waves and waves,
they shake the evening.

When will I know where the lovers go?
