DESCRIPTION:
This gentle and poignant solo recording of Geoff Goddard performing his composition I BEG TO HEAVEN is from the legendary Jim Blake sessions, Reading, Berkshire, UK, Summer 1974. Jim Blake, assisted by Patrick Pink and Chris Knight, interviewed and recorded Geoff Goddard at his home in Reading.

I BEG TO HEAVEN was composed in 1963, during Goddard's tenure at RGM Sound, 304 Holloway Road. It was recorded by John Drysdale & The Riot Squad but never issued until the release of The Riot Squad CD JUMP! in 2003.

Special thanks to JOHN REPSCH who coaxed Geoff Goddard out of retirement to perform at the launch party for his book "The Legendary Joe Meek: The Telstar Man" in October 1989, footage from which is featured in this video.
