Short video on the highlights of Jeff Evans, the first black graduate of the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) in 1947, who later returned as professor. Chef Evans is currently retired and resides in Cheshire, Connecticut. He was honored by the BCA at its' 1996 Cultural Awareness Salute as the recipient and name bearer of this award. The Jefferson Evans Award, co-signed by Chef Evans, is presented to individuals who have exhibited culinary excellence in the hospitality industry. This award symbolizes the importance of discipline, consistency, and upholding high standards, which are integral part of the culinary arts.
