DESCRIPTION:
From 1986 to 1994 the "Chicago Jazz Express" was produced by the Jazz Institute of Chicago ( JIC ) in tandem with the Chicago Public Schools (CPS) as an educational outreach program for high school students. It involved concerts in the schools but also preparatory and follow-up activities such as study guides about the history of the music and discussions about student reaction. This video is a segment of the concert at the Cook County Jail where the CPS provides classes for inmates of ages 17-19.
