Jason Sparks began his professional music making career in 1998 after posting his first demo, a 3-track TDK compact cassette, to Breakbeat pioneers Botchit and Scarper Recordings. He was offered a signing within 48 hours of putting his cassette in the post.

His first release was his seminal ‘Left To Live For’ track that hit the Breaks and Downtempo worlds by storm in 1999. From then up until the beginning of 2004 Jason pioneered his own brand of Breakbeat and Downtempo music with his unique style being embraced by many including BBC Radio 1’s Annie Nightingale and the late John Peel.

In 2003, the ‘Secret Place’ single from his debut album ‘Heroes and Villains’ made it to no. 1 of the Capital Dance Charts for 2 weeks running.

After the 'Heroes and Villains' album came out in 2004, Jason went to ground while he decided a new musical direction to go in. 3 years later he set up Contrabass Records which served as an outlet for him and other artists to experiment in new styles of dance music.

While producing and releasing on Contrabass Records, 2008 saw Jason Sparks drawing further on his 15 years production experience and beginning actively composing and producing music in many styles outside of dance music, for use in adverts, TV shows and movies.

2009 will see more Jason Sparks dance releases on Contrabass as well as scores of production music under different names and in many different styles for the purpose of licensing to TV and Movies.
