Shannon McArthur remains true to his Carolina upbringing, while breaking into the Hollywood Scene of Los Angeles, CA. With roots in emo-punk music, McArthur branched out to acoustic pop in 2005. His singles, "Chasing You" and "Nervous wreck at Best" were recently aired on MTV's "16 and Pregnant"; and his song, "Anywhere You Want" aired on "10 on Top", leading to furthered popularity amongst pop-cultured teens.
His melody-based acoustic pop landed him positions in Chapel Hill's undergraduate spring rock concerts (for headliners Carbon Leaf and The Blue Dogs), these performances led to McArthur instantly becoming a campus star, he was invited to perform on the university television station amongst the other 20+ campus events he headlined.
In 2008, his song "Side to Side" received airplay on G105 in Raleigh, NC which led to his playing at Carolina Hope Festival (Cary, North Carolina) featuring Colbie Caillat & Edwin McCain. His cable television debut came on the Greenville, North Carolina public television station as a segment in their weekly folk music program. During this same time McArthur released two albums, "Learning to Surf" & "Take Life to the Face." (Recorded in Chapel Hill, NC) & "Tonight" (recorded in Revolver Studios of Los Angeles, CA).
In 2009, McArthur spread to various universities, performing at campus wide events such as UGA's UGA Miracle, NC State's Rock 4 Life, Elon University's Elonthon, UNC Chapel Hill's Relay for Life, UT's Coffeehouse Night, and UNCC's Most Eligible Bachelor. In addition, he played a series of Greek functions at schools such as Roanoke College, Virginia Tech, and Wake Forest. Throughout fall of 2009, McArthur sold a total of 4,000 promotional EP's around southeastern colleges and universities. In April of 2010 McArthur won a radio contest -"Lab Star"- with his original "Anywhere You Want" (2008). The online station Netherlands Haerlem Radio proclaimed "Anywhere You Want" their April Song of the Month ("Haerlem Radio's Talent Lab" talentlab@haerlem.com).
