Sherrifo is playing the kora and singing under the mango tree in his compound at Brikama Jamisa. Makoy Jobarteh also lives in this compound with her husband, Suntou Kouyate, the balafon player and their family. Makoy is playing the Newo, a metal percussion instrument used extensively by jalimusos.
"Mali Jajo" is one of the most popular songs amongst the jalis in Brikama. This beautiful song from the Kaso country tells a beautiful story about the love a hippopotamus felt for a young girl. This was videoed by Tina Smith in March 2013.
