Pianist Jade Simmons joins musical legend Lillette Jenkins-Wisner in her farewell concerts Sept. 10-12 at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Murray Theater (Clear Water, Florida). During the concert, Lillette will pass the torch to Jade as she goes on to portray her in the upcoming new musical Lillette's Rhythm Club. The musical covers the adventurous life of concert jazz pianist Lillette Harris and her first husband, comedian Bud Harris, as the first African-American owners of a club, casino and hotel in Reno-Sparks Nevada during an era of segregation (1945). The musical will tour nationally in 2016. WEDU-PBS is doing a documentary on the life of Lillette and will be at the Murray Theater to film the September concerts.
