Don't you love each drop of summer rain,
The ocean by the moonlight?
Don't you love his voice, his gentleness?
These things make it worthwhile.

Don't you love these falling autumn leaves,
These little insect bites?
These things came at such a high price,
But some things make it worthwhile.

Soon, soon, soon...
Soon I will, learn to appreciate.
Soon I will, find some tenderness.
Soon I will get out this rat race.
Soon I will become an optimist.

A beautiful song recorded by Stuart Warwick, the artist formerly known as Jacob's Stories. It is very difficult to find this song these days, so after seeking permission from Stuart, I thought I'd upload the track for it to reach a much-deserved wider audience!

I strongly recommend you check out his bandcamp for more lovely recordings: http://stuartwarwick.bandcamp.com/

And here are a few comments on Ballerina from an old interview with Stu:

"I hate the name for this song... Honestly I don't know why it was called that... I think Joel (my old guitarist) chose it. I think I was getting a bit sick of naming songs and also getting very lazy at the time and Joel just said 'let's call it, Ballerina' and i probably just groaned in approval and, well there you go, it just stuck.

I quite like the sentiment behind the song, it was all very optimistic lyrically which is a bit unusual for a Jacob's Stories song.

I remember it got played live quite a lot when I first started touring, back when Jacob's Stories was a band. It never quite worked though and I remember being quite depressed about it when we tried to play it at band practices. Maybe one day it will get a revival..."
