Went to my medicine Cabinet
Took a look inside
Once again every now and then

It was such a menacing habit
I went there every day
Always against my better sense
I couldn't stay away
Went to see my family doctor
Because I wanted to quit
He said take a pill put a Band Aid on
But don't get stuck on it

Went to see the nearest headshrinker
told him all about me
He called me a slob told me go get a job
He blamed me on Society

I was referred to a Social Worker
to find out why I fail
she told me I didn’t need a job
I needed to be in jail

I Went to see the last 2 honest men
A politician and a priest
They said sign a petition say an Act Of Contrition
and donate at least

And the Band Aids won't stick where they're supposed to
because the blood runs a river of red
I'm sitting here forced to carry on
remembering everything you ever said

standing by in the hurricane's eye
trying to thread the needle
wasting time in the welfare line
wishing you were a Beatle

putting your feelings a bottle
and tossing it out to sea
was like closing Pandora's box
and throwing away the key

the demons inside get too hard to hide
and you're digging an early grave
ranting and raving about end of times
wondering who'll be saved

you're waiting on the platform
standing at the station
looking for all kinds of shortcuts
to your final destination

you're all fire and brimstone
wearing your Sunday best
when I asked if you felt haunted
You swore you were possessed

We wear them
We can't bear them
Stem the flow
And dry my tears
Friend and foe
All my worst fears
Bend don't break
My soul to keep
Paid the price
Thought it was steep
Took bad advice
Got in too deep


I get stuck in ruts all the time lack creativity
I get kicked in the nuts all the time by the negativity
I get too wrapped up sometimes in the festivities
I get stuck on Band Aids and my bad activities
