N.R.G. Vibes feat. Görli Gang Albummix - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 11, 2011
DESCRIPTION:
the Görlitzer Park in Berlin Kreuzberg, called "Görli" is known for its summer feeling and dance hall events, for Berlin hip hop and German rap with Jamaican Patois. Not even 10 meters away from the entrance to this park in the Görlitzer Straße, one can find Marcus's studio, where he is awaking to life his buzzing bass line in the downs of his basement vault.
William Casley, a former member of the legendary band "Roots Anabo" (one of the first afro reggae bands in Berlin during the 80..s) visited Marcus's ATAHSOUND Studio and got deeply impressed and fascinated by the current productions. But beside the reggae rhythms and tunes he heard, William - also a former social worker for migration - was very much inspired by the atmosphere and the social life around the "Görli". Thats how the idea of this project was born: music as an instrument of social integration and identification. The "Görli-Kiez" as a starting point of multicultural cooperation and a source of music fusing all sounds of the world.
Marcus, a singer with Latin-American roots and a sound engineer by profession knows as well the scene around the Park as the ragga muffin posse. So he roped in Black Kappa, a former member of the reggae group "SEEED" and Klarbautermann, a well known DJ of the local ragga club scene. The African part of the arrangements is seen in the work of the composer William Casley, who brings in his own style which he calls sunlife music - derived from the Ghanaian highlife. Flashbuddhai, the bassist from Ghana is joggling his bass line between the jumping African sounds and the grooving Jamaican rhythms. Last but not least, Mariamu from Kenya is underlining this style and brings in the ultimate multicultural feeling with her soul voice and her singing in Swahili language. More musicians and singers are already waiting at the door...
