PUBLISHED:  Jun 08, 2014
DESCRIPTION:
The great Sophie! With Miff Mole's Molers. "After You've Gone" had been a #2 hit for Henry Burr and Albert Campbell in 1918 and #1 for Marion Harris in 1919 (which I've also posted). Charting remakes include #7 for Bessie Smith in 1927, and #15 for Louis Armstrong in 1932. This song has been recorded hundreds of times by other artists such as Judy Garland, Al Jolson, Benny Goodman, Fats Waller, Billy Murray and Gladys Rice, Paul Whiteman, and Frankie Laine.

Written by Turner Layton and Henry Creamer.

Recorded April 11, 1927.

With Ted Shapiro at the piano.

The other side of this record is "I Ain't Got Nobody (and Nobody Cares for Me)".
