If you don't understand what is happening in this song its really easy to explain, its just Elephant Man + Red Hot Chili Peppers + Skrillex. The type of rap Joanna is doing in the verses is a jamacan vibe called 'dancehall.' And it has autotune on it, but she actually sang those notes. Its not shifted until the second verse, when its shifted up. The riff is 100% inspired by the Chili Peppers with some choppy vocals and dubstep in the space. I love the genre of dubstep because of its implications in genres other than EDM. For the chorus all I was thinking when I wrote the lyrics was feeling Under The Sea + being on the beach in highschool. Good times all around. And its dirty slap bassline in the chorus. The other thing I like about this song is that it goes in to double time at the end and then QUADRUPLE TIME after that. Some seriously fast 64th notes from me and Maddie.
