The Thelemic Holy Days commemorate the reception of the central teachings of the theology of THELEMA—Liber AL vel Legis sub figura CCXX: The Book of the Law—by the English magician Aleister Crowley in Cairo in 1904.

This book is the foundation of the new Aeon, and thus the whole of our Work.

The Author called himself Aiwass, and claimed to be "the minister of Hoor-paar-kraat"; that is, a messenger from the forces ruling this earth at present.

Each of the three Holy Days is associated with the corresponding date on which the chapter was received, as well as one of the three primary archetypes in the Thelemic cosmology:

For April 8th, we commemorate the writing of Chapter I, and the Egyptian sky goddess Nuit — Space — that is, the total of possibilities of every kind. On April 9th, we commemorate Chapter II and the wingéd solar disk god Hadit, or any point which has experience of these possibilities. The final day and Chapter III is associated with Horus, from whom we may come to perceive events as a continual growth partaking of both these principles in the Great Work.
