Sister Love - A band triggered by a ménage à trois!

A trio of girls…well, I guess you’ve heard it all before, but hey! There is something special about Sister Love. And no, it's not just because they were formed thanks to a mutual boyfriend that dated all of them – at the same time without telling the others. That’s pretty unheard of, but wait there’s more. Sister Love actually delivers utterly fantastic pop with a suave attitude and hooks so contagious that they’re giving already established international talents a run for their money.

At the moment, they’re based in the Swedish capital of Stockholm, but only one of them are actually from there. The blonde knock out Erica grew up in grim and cold north, in the small town of Gällivare.

Cool, laid back Tess is an island girl from the west coast island of Smögen while Josephine is born and raised in the capital.

All three of them approached music already at a very young age and their paths crossed when they were studying music in Stockholm.

- Love brought us together, Erica laughs. Well, it's no laughing matter really, but what can you do?

As it turns out, all three of them dated the same guy – simultaneously! None of them knew about the existence of the others and when they found out the hard way, the guy was kicked to the curb.

But the incident got the girls talking, triggered a friendship and as they found out that they all had the same goal, they formed Sister Love.

- The name was pretty obvious, Erica smiles.

Soon enough they came in contact with producer and song writer Peter Sahlin who saw their potential and supplied them with original songs, and slowly but surely they began developing a style of their own.

- In the beginning we did a bunch of disco covers, Tess recalls, we were nervous and danced really bad. Well, not Josephine – she can dance!

Thankfully, dancing was never a huge part of the group’s concept. This trio relies on quality pop and a strong vocal delivery, equally shared between them based on their different vocal styles and skills

- Erica is the soul voice, she loves to wail, says Therese. Shell hit the high parts and loves taking them on.

- I prefer the lower range, claims Josephine, known to use the power of an air raid siren.

Which leaves the bridges to Therese, but it's the combination of their voices that becomes the unique vocal trade mark of Sister Love

The group’s pop has a tough edge and they’re not afraid to saturate the dance floor with buckets of hip synthesizer sounds.

But who are they, really?

Erica readily admits that she grew up as very shy and insecure girl.

- I never dared to do anything. I knew I could sing, but I never sang to anyone, not even to my parents.

Instead, Erica turned to sports, and living in the far north of Sweden, skiing came naturally. After a few years she excelled and came in third in a national competition.

When she decided to go to a musical school, it surprised a lot of people, and it was something of a jaw dropper when she volunteered to sing at the semester’s final.

- I sang a song I had written myself. It was my first public performance, I was terrified – but I got a standing ovation!

After high school Erica made a life altering decision to move to Stockholm to study music.

Around the same time, Tess had reached the same conclusion, that to leave home and move to Stockholm. She also grew up being a bit shy.

- Except when it came to boys, she laughs. But I was a bit teased as a kid, since I’ve always been very thin. I was gulping down chocolate drinks with whipped cream but I never gained any weight. When I was 12 a kid told me I was so ugly I shouldn’t leave my house. It hurt me real bad.

She was something of a talker, though.

- I still am, she smiles. I don’t want people to second guess what I'm saying. Tess played the violin and listed to a lot of domestic pop before discovering punk, especially the skate punk provided by Offspring.

- I dyed my hair with food coloring – it never washed out, she sighs.

After school, she worked briefly at a fish factory and saved enough to go to Australia.

- It was the adventure of a life time, she shines.

During her education in Stockholm, she discovered new sides of herself and her shyness disappeared.

- Well, that’s what happens when you have to recite Aquarius with your bum in front of the whole class!

Clocking in at nineteen, Josephine is a stick of dynamite ready to explode. Her past as a promising footballer in Swedens highest division guarantees her stamina on stage. She having danced since her pre teens and even competed on an international level is an added bonus.

Music and singing entered her life at a very young age, but the dream that one day become an artist started when she joined the music/dance group Miro Kids. She was ten and a big fan of Spice Girls, screaming her lungs out at their concert in Stockholm. Later on Christina Aguilera, Backstreet Boys and Britney Spears became big idols, but today Josephine prefers the sexy sounds of Justin Timberlake.

With a soccer crazy dad and two brothers kicking the ball, it was somewhat inevitable that Josephine would turn to football as well.

- I was a bit of a tom boy, she reluctantly admits. I used to hang around boys and tuck my hair inside a baseball cap.

Today, we cant see a trace of that tom boyness. Josephine is a colourful and ravishing beauty who enjoys flaunting her Barbie pink nails to any boy passing by.

Boys seem to be the common denominator for this trio of young girls. Relationships, however, is another story.

- I'm as crazy about guys as the rest of the girls, so I fit right in! laugs Josephine.

How appropriate then that shes single, now that her big adventure is taking off. But to appeal to her you need to be a tanned surfer boy with brown eyes and a great sense of humour.

Tess can’t resist men in uniforms, be it police -, fire fighter- or military. She’s dated them all!

- People think that guys in uniforms are so macho, but it’s the opposite! They’re really sweet.

- I seem to fall for the wrong guys, Erica complains. They’re always cocky and they seem to find it hard to express emotion. I guess I want them to put up a fight for love.

With so good looking girls and so many boys, there's bound to be some scandals out there.

- You bet, Erica laughs, and surely there are guys involved – we just love men! I’ll gladly date a few fans by the way…
