The work was commissioned by the 54th 'Warsaw Autumn' International Festival of Contemporary Music.

When the piece is to be performed with electronics, it should be named Emergon αβ, when it is without the computer part, it should be named Emergon α. Thus the score of the piece doesn’t include the computer’s improvised part and depending on the version - with or without electronics - the time and the timbre of the piece differ.
