We took our unique brand of punk to Edinburgh fringe, and played 8 gigs in 5 days

We have 2 singles coming out in early 2008, "up great britain" via velocity recordings, and "lead singer syndrome" via josaka. until then you can download "R U Looking 4ward" exclusively from eclecticfusion.com.

You can also buy hellowembley t shirts from the website aswell and at our live dates. Here are some reviews about us:

SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY STUDENT MAGAZINE:

I doubt that Hello Wembley have the musical talent to write an intro in the first place, let alone a break down. Are they actively trying not to sing?It is ironic that if they are right, and people don’t listen to music-and they succeed, then they will become part of the culture that they berate. But then, this always was the danger with punk music.

LINDA SERCK, BBC RADIO BERKSHIRE:

"Having missed the first two bands I make sure I'm paying attention for Hello Wembley. And to be honest you can't do anything but pay attention to this bunch of raucous synth punksters. A friend remarks the singer bears a passing resemblance to Mika, what with his crop of tumbling dark curls, which are now being thrashed about rhythmically to the angular spasmodic jerks from the body they're attached to. The bleeps of the vaudevillian dance hall keyboard cruises happily over the crunch of guitars, beats and shouty singing. Their own Rowetta, the slinky Debbie in zebra print dress, adds a touch of panache to a performance that is otherwise akin to a Lahndahn roadhouse brawl. A batch of thumping tunes, topped off by crowd favourite Dancefloor Filler, mounts Hello Wembley on the mantlepiece of Reading music favourites.

REPEAT FANZINE:

An ethos of actually having something, anything, to say is always a winner and can ensure a good review regardless of the actual music, but in Hello Wembley's case this stands up admirably as well, sounding like an empowered and irritated Art Brut. They got a lot to say and bags of ideas, each song on this 4 track EP is packed with cultural references that never feel like they've been shoehorned in for effect but fit the song structures. they stand up for what they believe in whilst creating fun chirpy music in the process.

CLASHMUSIC:

.At first listen Hello Wembley sound like a dozen other indie bands with their heavy yob accents and plain riffs.

But closer inspection of the Reading band’s debut single Up Great Britain reveals it as both a wicked satire and stomping rock tune. Singer Alex Waring unleashes the full force of his doleful sarcasm, bemoaning the state of modern Britain with lyrics like “there are bombs in shoes / nobody cares cos they’ve got iTunes”. The rock’n’roll riffs are wilfully dumb but backing singer Debbie Howard provides a bold soul touch to the chorus. Puts a smile on your face.

ORGAN MAGAZINE:

HELLO WEMBLEY – Up Great Britain (Velocity) – I blame last week’s NME, that and hoodie tops, nu-rave, the Daily Mail, Tories, scenesters, posers, anyone from Shoreditch, people who call other people roll and roll frauds. I blame frauds, Art Brut, people who want to be Art Brut and come out sounding more like the bloody Wombats trying to be the Pin Ups. I blame you, him, her, the Camden Crawl, the state of the nation, I blame bad estuary English from Reading and skinny fit emo jeans taking the piss out of skinny fit emo jeans in a Happy Mondays gone all wrong Flowered Up Klaxons eating bad eggs with rock and roll spoons and rock and roll crap. You get what you want in your no class not very Great Britain in 2008 – David Camaron’s favourite band apparently, he heard them on a roller coaster or a helicopter or a helter skelter in the eye of a storm, happy new year –

GETREADYTOROCK.COM:

"The band's name says it all really, as Hello Wembley combine elements of humour, pastiche, and parody in a handful of punky inflected pop songs to bring a smile to even the most jaded palette.

And it is the lead single Up Great Britain' as part of a 4 track mini ep/cd that sets the standard, with some humorous but biting lyrics who apparent irreverence barely disguise some painfully accurate observations on contemporary times.

But the band aren't just a one dimensional post punk band on auto destruct, as when they chant 'Great Britain isn't great anymore, in Great Britain, the rich hate the poor', they later ask the all to relevant question, 'ask the question, what happened'?

For the rest there's some fairly obvious humour, but Debbie Howard adds some lovely vocals and on the minimalist 'Rollercoaster' Hello Wembley distil their art into a three word hook, and things don't get any more concise than that. ***

"

MUSICOMH.COM:

They may be the kind of angry young adolescents who don't really seem to know what they're angry about (other than grown-ups and the Government, of course) but they sound like they're spitting their punk invective over the Hacienda dancefloor, so all power to them. for a minute i thought they might be the new Enemy, but it turns out it's safe to go back on the dancefloor after all. phew.

VELOCITY RECORDINGS:

"2008 looks like being a year of chaos/madness/genius/failure for this now seven (!) piece band!"

"Lead Singer Syndrome" March 2008

Limited Edition 'Lead Singer Syndrome' Sexy Pink Vinyl from HMV

Summer 2004, jack learns to play guitar, he asks alex, hallett and mitch to form a band with him. they play a gig in alex's garage, without a drummer. halfway through the first and only song a sign falls on jack and splits his head open, alex is sick. the omens are not good but HELLOWEMBLEY are born.

fast forward 1 year and HELLOWEMBLEY play their first proper gig, this time no one is sick and there is no blood. HELLOWEMBLEY play numerous gigs in shitty pubs around Reading, they are rubbish but people seem to like them.

HELLOWEMBLEY'S first drummer moves to new york, nick joins the band, he is good and has his own van, the new look HELLOWEMBLEY record lead singer syndrome, it wins BBC berkshire's demo panel, HELLOWEMBLEY join forces with local legend MC mightyman, they record dance floor filler the remix, it also wins the demo panel. more gigs follow, HELLOWEMBLEY make their first foray into london, playing at the camden turtle for eclectic fusion, who go on to manage them.

guitarist matt leaves the band, soul singer debbie howard joins, she sounds less like noddy holder than jack. HELLOWEMBLEY begin to sound good, they play at lots of nice places, including the cavern club, the half moon and the rhthym factory.

at one of these gigs they meet sid siddle from velocity recordings, they get drunk together, sid spills beer on himself and declares "up great britain" to be the new national anthem.

velocity recordings release "up great britain", the press hate it, but huw stevens plays it on radio 1, bbc 6music play it a few times and bizarrely it also gains national airplay in canada and is featured on hollyoaks

eclectic fusion creative management order 600 HELLOWEMBLEY t shirts, no one buys them, lots are given away for free

HELLOWEMBLEY go to edinburgh fringe festival, they play in a theatre, they get shut down by environmental health, they have lots of fun.

somehow they manage to blag support slots with babyshambles, glasvegas, goodbooks and many others. organ magazine make "up great britain" single of the week. artrocker declare it to be the worst single of the year.

that is pretty much the story so far, what next for HELLOWEMBLEY? probably not that much.
