Born Gerard Thomas McMahon, he was known as both Gerard McMahon and Gerard McMann in the 80's. In the 70's, he was known only by his first name, Gerard. He was signed to Caribou Records in 1976, and released his self-titled debut album. The lead-off single, "Hello Operator", a poppy upbeat number, failed to hit Billboard's Hot 100 chart, getting as high as #109 on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart. Today, he is known as G TOM MAC, still writing and recording. "Hello Operator" is one song that deserved a better chart fate.
