Smoke The Past Away - Video
PUBLISHED:  Mar 13, 2012
DESCRIPTION:
Brand-new music video for the extraordinarily talented Icelandic band, Helgi Valur & The Shemales, for their latest single "Smoke The Past Away".

Shot on location in Reykjavík, Iceland in Helgi's apartment called "The Electric Ladyboyland". Having previously taken on the constructs of faith and race with his 2005 release, Demise of Faith, and 2009´s more playful Black man is God, White man is the devil, Helgi Valur now tackles the increasingly elusive Electric Ladyboyland which is all about showing the rainbows within and without. Helgi Valur's unique lyrics and grooves are locked together in an air-tight package delivered by some of the very best of Reykjavik's ever-vibrant music scene. Reykjavik's ever-vibrant music scene. The quality of musicians working on this album is truly outstanding and features artists also working with acts as diverse as: Amiina, Árstíðir, Ojba Rasta, Sing Fang and Benny Hemm Hemm. Smoke the past away is by Helgi's own account his most political song. Asked about the meaning of the song he said "I can't answer that question out of political reasons"
