Avondale Mix Project - Neighbourhood Party - Video
PUBLISHED:  May 08, 2009
DESCRIPTION:
The Avondale Mix Project (aka AMP) started when community members were concerned that young people were getting into trouble because of the lack of positive options for them. The growing perception that the area was unsafe due to violence at youth events was a catalyst to the projects creation.

In October 2008, Hiphop/rap songwriting workshops with 10 - 14 year olds commenced, with the support of the Auckland City Council and the Avondale Community Centre.

Each week these young people would meet at the community centre, to create original material through workshops facilitated by leading New Zealand artists. Working alongside music industry heavyweights such as Joost Langeveld, Chris Van Der Geer, Ethical, Luke Orphan Berryman, Justice, Joseva Viqasi & Hayley J. Hansell encouraged the young people to take their own art, and themselves, to a writing and performance level beyond their expectations.

And now the Avondale Mix Project is proud to announce the release of its first single NEIGHBOURHOOD PARTY accompanied by a video produced by Curious Productions.
