Hatemail entered the music scene year 2000. The heavy music is almost dead and gone in Cebu
City.Unnoticed by somebody and trendy music arises. They were once inspired
to those who
puts trust and believes on them. They made a mark to play in local areas in the city wherein
they take risk of everything by playing in a wrong circle. Few people, fans and listeners were
into their music. Hatemail continue to do what is best for the sake of heavy music. They
entered the studio year 2002 and recorded demo versions of some of their songs at the Backyard
Project Studio by Kerryll Demeterio(Smooth Friction,Ribcage,LeftofCenter). Things gets even
better.a great response were given by some people while they play on the 10th year Anniversary
of SRA(Struggle for Radical Action) last January 2003. That was so much fun and experience
for the first time they played in a hardcore community. "There were bodies bruised, thrown
punches and kicks everywhere, sweat and blood in the moshpit and everything.that was a
display of power. Some visitors from different regions invited them to play, mostly from Luzon,
Visayas and Mindanao area. Due to time and money problems, they cant manage to play those areas
but instead they distribute some singles and join some compilations together with the local
bands from the region. Only Dumaguete City so far was the place they played last summer of 2003
with bands like Cookie Monster, Onslaughter, and together with other bands.
Hatemail released their 2004's first album "In a World of Confusion.". September 8, 2004
was a memorable date for them and also for people who have been there expected to be at least
400 more fans and listeners at that night, alongside wit hthe great performances of Cebu's
Best metal and hardcore bands like Linchpin, Burn Unit, Mea Culpa(RIP), Firstborn and others.
After the album launch they toured back from San Fernando to Dumaguete.
"The world losts another hero.we are doomed". That was a shocking news for us and unbelievable
enough when we hear about Dimebag Darrell was shot to death by a pathetic fan last
December 8, 2004. "Pantera was really our inspiration to be in heavy music and for Dime, he
was such a great guitar legend for everybody.rest in peace". For us, its a sad feeling but
it was not merely the end, it was a lesson, a motivation to move on for us.and for everybody
in the heavy music.
Year 2005 was a great year.thousands of people jamming their asses as Hatemail played on
Urge Super X Series live at SM City Cebu Parking Area. "That was sick and brutal." as what
they describe at that show.
The Motorola School of Rock is inviting all bands to join in for competition that was held
last year 2006 at Club Vudu. Hatemail doesnt really into those things but because of the
people who wants us to be part of it, they joined and competing with other 20 bands from Cebu
City. Hatemail was nominated as one of Cebu's Top 5 bands to play in advance. Days after, they
played back together with Blood of the Stone, UNO, CDMC and 3ml at Gaisano Countrymall Open Air.
Thousands of people gathered at that night. Others just watching and others moshing around.
"You guys were too heavy for Motorola.and we all know you guys are the best" as the Motorola
Panel told us that the winner for that night was CDMC. Hatemail is having a good time at that
night, they were not after for the prize or for the competition, but they were after for spreading
their music.
Even an average kids shouting, showing metal signs as they passing by every other afternoons. It shows
that Hatemail has a success in heavy music in Cebu City. They inspired those little kids, highschool kids
and everybody around."It was really a great, great feeling to know how much little success we
have." as what Marco told last one sunny afternoon conversation outside their place together
with their bassist Sugar.
This year 2007, Hatemail continues to make good music, with a different kind of direction. They
putting more challenges each songs, putting more speed and technicality on it but not neglecting
the groove of every kind of songs they make."Welcome to the reinvented music of HATEMAIL."
