Unplugged version of Like Warriors with piano man Harry Whalley, recorded in Edinburgh November 14th, 2015.

ABOUT THE 'WHEN HARRY MET KATHY' SESSIONS
These sessions are with my piano man Harry Whalley. I've worked with Harry for three years remotely: he in Edinburgh, me in Connecticut. A few months back we had our second ever jam session IN THE SAME ROOM. This 'Like Warriors' video is the first video addition to the 'When Harry Met Kathy Sessions'. Harry had never before heard the song. Videographer Julien and I had been filming footage earlier that day related to the Like Warriors video project (see below). Julien wanted Harry to hear the song and the story behind it. I duly obliged. Harry heard a verse and bridge and got the gist. What you hear is a first and only take. After all, that's what old mates do: they have a laugh and a jam.

ABOUT THE 'LIKE WARRIORS' PROJECT
The Like Warriors song is about growing up on Edinburgh's south side, specifically Oxgangs and the High Rise Flats, where I grew up.

These 'stoney buildings' were a happy home for many of us kids and our families, before my block and the other two blocks of flats were demolished in the mid 2000's. Due to an overwhelming response on social media, I had an idea: what if I could ask former residents to help me gather photos from the 60s/70's so that we could show real images of what I only saw as a child and in my own mind's eye.

And that's exactly what happened. People sent photos, wrote stories, discovered old friends on the Like Warriors Facebook Page and the Flickr community helped enormously too.

The Like Warriors has become the community video I always hoped it would be. If it reminds you of anything when you were younger, then great :-).
