Daniel Guilet (1899-1990) Played in the Calvet string quartet and accompanied Maurice Ravel before he formed the "Guilet string quartet" in 1942. He combined playing in that quartet with the position of first violin in Toscanini's NBC symphony orchestra. In 1954 he founded a new chamber music ensemble with even greater fame to come; the "Beaux Arts trio".
Strange enough, Guilet quartet records are not that well known, and have rarely been re-issued. Here is a 1950 MMS/Concert hall recording of a string quartet by the Spanish composer Juan Crisóstomo Arriaga
