Dear friends of groovedrumming,
first of all I got to tell the whole world, that I am as glad as a man can be in view of that MYSPACE.COM. After years of unbelievable successful work, I got to thank all them, who made me to that what I am today: my parents, my brother and all my great friends, still remembering the great friendship to Mr. Jeffrey Porcaro, who´s got the best place in heaven for shure. Also I want to say thanx to my dentist Dr. Thomas Ernst, who made me the nicest teeth ever a man can have. And special thanx to the Mercedes-Groepper Company in Frankfurt, which keeps my nearly 30 years old 450 SE in best shape since 1996. Also very special thanx to the Fleischmann Company, which makes these fine scale-models of locomotives that work real hard on my 3 to 5 m layout everyday.
Now the time has come, that I want to give the world everything back. Please contact me! Don´t have no fear! (Not you, who´s reading this - the world itself!). I´m gonna show you the top-secrets of groovedrumming for free.

Born May 3d 1966 in Frankfurt/Germany. Torsten Dechert´s drumstyle is based on groove, dancebility and songplaying in studio and live. 1981 Torsten Dechert has been one of the founders of legendary german funkband "Midnite Fun". 1987 he joined the "Rock´n´Rolle-Band" with Guitarplayer, Singer and Songwriter Rolle. Torsten Dechert was hired in 1989 by guitarist and singer of theatre-rockband "Flatsch!" Olaf Mill for his new project "Olaf und die Band". From 1990 on he was with "The Stroke", a hardrock-funk-formation (1991 support for Toto, 1992 CD-release on Columbia/Sony). Also from 1990 on Torsten Dechert was the new drummer of german punkrock-band "Strassenjungs" touring all over Germany. 1992 touring with turkish-german girlsinger Tülay. Lots of studioworks in the 90´s. 2001 recording two CD-albums with Rolle in Spain (Simple Songs, Party Shoes), who is also well known as german translator of "The Peanuts" of Charles M. Schulz. 2003 Torsten Dechert was the drummer on "Strassenjungs" TV-gig "WDR-Rockpalst" which is released on DVD also. From 2005 on he is working at his own project "Willemer 15". For this bandproject, but also for different artists he is writing lyrics in german language. Since 2006 Torsten Dechert is also bandmember of rockband "The Heilig". Near the music Torsten Dechert founded an insurancebroker-company in 1996 which is specialized on music- and entertainment-business which is well known in musicbusiness Germany also.

Torsten Dechert (* 3. Mai 1966 in Frankfurt am Main) ist ein Frankfurter Live- und Studiodrummer.
1981 gründete er gemeinsam mit Marco Ramazzotto und Arman Vardar die Funkband Midnite Fun. Die Gruppe tourte als unterhaltsamer und vor allem tanzbarer Live-Act in ganz Deutschland. 1987 kam Dechert zur Rock´n´Rolle-Band (mit dem Gitarristen Rolle s. u.). 1989 holte ihn der ehemalige Gitarrist und Sänger der Band Flatsch! Olaf Mill in seine neue Gruppe „Olaf und die Band“.
1990 gründete Dechert mit dem mittlerweile verstorbenen Sänger Mikki Byron, Gitarrist Andy Blöcher und Bassist Ray Finkenberger-Levin die Hardrock-Funk Formation „The Stroke“, die zeitweise ein hoffnungsvolles Projekt zu sein schien (1991 Vorgruppe der kalifornischen Band Toto, 1992 CD-Veröffentlichung bei Sony). Im Jahr 1990 stieg Dechert bei der deutschen Punkrockband Strassenjungs ein. 1992 ging er mit der türkisch-deutschen Sängerin Tülay auf Deutschland-Tournee, auf deren Album er bereits mitgewirkt hatte (Single-Auskopplung „Your Sex Is Ex“ einige Wochen Nr.1 in Hitparade FFH).
In den 1990er Jahren arbeitete Dechert auf ungezählten Studioproduktionen. Im Jahr 2000 gründete er mit den ehemaligen Strassenjungs-Kollegen Andi Mengler und Michael Liebert die Radau-Band Schmutzhanz, die es allerdings nicht über eine CD-Produktion hinaus schaffte.
2001 nahm Torsten Dechert zwei Alben mit dem in Spanien lebenden Gitarristen und Sänger Rolle auf (Simple Songs, Party Shoes), der auch als deutscher Übersetzer der Comic-Reihe „Die Peanuts“ von Charles M. Schulz bekannt ist.
Im Jahr 2003 war Dechert wieder als Live-Drummer im WDR-Rockpalast-Konzert der Strassenjungs zu sehen, das auch auf DVD erschien. Seit 2005 arbeitet er an seinem eigenen Band-Projekt Willemer 15, wo er sich auch als Songtexter betätigt. Mittlerweile entstanden auch deutsche Songtexte für andere Künstler , u. a. Dagmar (The Lady of country).
Torsten Decherts Drum-Stil ist mehr auf Groove, Tanzbarkeit und Songdienlichkeit ausgerichtet und weniger auf solistische Gimmicks.
Nahe der Musik gründete Torsten Dechert 1996 ein Unternehmen als Spezialversicherungsmakler für die Musik- und die Veranstaltungsbranche, das im deutschen Musikgeschäft sehr bekannt geworden ist.
